Claudia S Kielkopf
Claudia completed a Bachelor degree in Biochemistry at the University of Tübingen, Germany and a Master degree in Experimental and Medical Bioscience at Linköping University, Sweden. Now she is close to completing her PhD at the University of Wollongong, Australia. In her research, Claudia showed that native apolipoprotein-D, a lipocalin that is protective in Alzheimer’s disease, forms a novel tetramer and shows orthosteric and allosteric responses to progesterone binding. During her PhD, she developed a distinct skill set of biophysical techniques in protein biochemistry including small-angle X-ray scattering, hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry and single particle cryo-electron microscopy. Claudia has an interest in using structural biology to understand and develop cures for diseases. Alongside her research, Claudia participated in the Homeward Bound leadership programme for women in STEM that led her to Antarctica to learn about leadership in an ever-changing world.
