Alastair Stewart

Alastair is a laboratory head at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Sydney, where his group uses structural and biochemical methods to understand membrane proteins. He read the Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge before completing a PhD in crystallography at UNSW, Sydney. He established his independent laboratory at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in 2016, and since then he has held three consecutive NHMRC fellowships and received the 2023 Commonwealth Health Minister’s Award for Excellence in Health and Medical Research.
