Chathura Suraweera The 44th Lorne Conference on Protein Structure and Function 2019

Chathura Suraweera

Chathura was completed his PhD at La Trobe University in 2020, entitled “Biochemical and Biophysical Characterization of Poxvirus Mediated Subversion of Apoptosis”, . He spent 8 months working as a Research Fellow in Prof. Marc Kvansakul’s laboratory La Trobe University where he investigated the structure and function of poxvirus replication associated DNA binding proteins. Chathura is currently working as a Research Fellow at Monash University in Associate Professor Sheena McGowan laboratory at the department of Microbiology. Chathura’s program of research is to examine the role of phage effector proteins, characterisation and engineering them to use as a therapeutic target against multi-drug resistant bacteria.
